Here you will learn how to use a scooter.

Training content

In the specialty scooter you will learn how to use an underwater scooter. You will learn about the special features of diving with a scooter and the problems and dangers that can occur. You will also be familiarized with the planning and execution and the technical preparation of a scooter will be explained to you in more detail.

Theoretical training

  • The differences between the scooters (technology and range)
  • Handling the scooters
  • The dangers of scootering: general dangers, diving with scooter and Nitrox/Trimix, diving with scooter and dry suit
  • The diving equipment in combination with the scooter
  • The temperature balance of the diver when riding a scooter
  • Ascending and descending with the scooter
  • Group division and group guidance with the scooter
  • Special conditions for scooter diving
  • The local regulations in the diving water
  • Emergency management, e.g. exceeding the MOD, scooter pulls down, etc.

Practical training

  • Dive planning
  • Buoyancy exercises with the scooter in shallow water or in the pool
  • “Driving exercises”, balanced in shallow water
  • Diving exercise to 10m
  • “Driving exercises”, balanced in 10m
  • Ascent exercise from 10m with safety stop at 5m
  • Diving in a group in the 10m range
  • Care, maintenance and storage of the scooter

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age 16 years old
  • Proof of health status
  • Proof of Open Water Diver or comparable
  • For minors, a declaration of consent from a parent or legal guardian is required
