Extended Range OC

The Extended Range certification is aimed at destinations and people who have difficulty or no access to helium.

Training content

You will be trained in advanced theory and practice for longer dives with air or nitrox as the base gas and 2-3 decompression gases. The extended range course focuses primarily on the handling of multiple failures with time limits and decompression dives that require the use of several deco gas mixtures. The aim is to be able to complete the dive safely. From the Extended Range Diver level, there is no longer a decompression limit, as sufficient base gases and decompression mixtures are carried redundantly during the dive.

Training objectives

  • Problem solving – floating and ascending
  • Solving multiple errors with tight deadlines
  • Handling of 2 stage cylinders with Nitrox and O2 gas exchange, incl. deco gas redundancy
  • Advanced deco training with nitrox and oxygen mixtures only
  • Making training measurable
  • Advanced Deko TEC training
Limit after successful course completion
  • Maximum depth 50 meters
  • No limit on decompression times

Prerequisites

At the start of the course:

  • Minimum age 21 years
  • Proof of health status, not older than 2 years
  • Detection i.a.c. TEC Advanced Nitrox OC, i.a.c. TEC Trimix Light OC or comparable, according to current i.a.c. equivalence list
  • Logbook proof of at least 150 logged dives, including 50 deco dives and 50 deeper than 30 meters
