Specialty Nitrox Basic

Here you will learn how to deal with increased oxygen content in the breathing gas.

Training content

In the Nitrox Basic specialty, you will learn how to safely plan, prepare and carry out nitrox dives with gas mixtures consisting of oxygen-enriched air with a maximum O2 content of 40%. In the practical part of the course, the content of the theoretical training will be put into practice. For this purpose, the equipment for the (simulated) dive should be prepared and an air analysis carried out with the prescribed logistics. Optionally, real dives with Nitrox can also be integrated into the training.

Theoretical training

  • Oxygen problem
  • Physiological consequences
  • MOD calculations for practical use
  • Nitrogen problem (Henry and EAD)
  • Nitrox tables and dive computer
  • Equipment
  • Legal basis
  • Gas analysis and labeling of SCUBA
  • Dive control sheets
  • Emergency management

Practical training

  • Equipment check (analyze nitrox mixture)
  • Correct labeling of the diving device
  • Dive planning
  • Create dive list

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age 12 years old
  • Proof of Open Water Diver or comparable
  • Proof of health status
  • For minors, a declaration of consent from a parent or legal guardian is required
