Learn the fundamental self-rescue skills within no-decompression limits.
The Self-Reliant Diver course is designed for committed recreational divers who want to learn how to act independently and safely in case of problems underwater. The course teaches self-rescue techniques, safe ascents after losing a dive buddy, and how to resolve simple issues underwater.
The goal is to equip divers with the necessary skills and confidence to act effectively and independently in emergency situations. The course promotes self-reliance and strengthens the ability to remain calm and in control, even when facing unexpected challenges.
TRAINING CONTENT
- Fundamentals of gas management – Efficient calculation and planning of breathing gas supply.
- Respiratory Minute Volume (RMV) and gas consumption analysis – calculations to optimize air usage.
- Emergency planning and self-rescue – strategies and techniques for safely returning without a buddy.
- Use and configuration of redundant equipment – understanding backup systems and how to handle them.
- Situational awareness and stress management – techniques to promote calmness and composure in emergency situations.
- Navigation techniques for safe return – natural and technical navigation.
- Risk assessment and decision-making – methods for quickly and safely evaluating situations.
- Safety checks and routine equipment inspections – ensuring all systems are ready for use.
- Dealing with environmental factors – adapting dive planning to conditions such as currents and visibility.
- Documentation and logbook keeping – the importance of recording dives and experiences.
Limit after successful course completion:
- No-decompression dives using air or nitrox as the primary breathing gas.
