      This Dive Center meets the following specifications.

      The island

      The island of Krk is located in the Kvarner Bay. It is the largest island in the Adriatic, with an area of 409.9 km2. The highest peak is Obzova (569 m). Around the island there are about twenty small islands, rocky reefs and cliffs: Prvić, Galun, Zec, Plavnik, Kormati, Košljun, Sv. Marko and others. 16,402 inhabitants live in the 68 settlements on the island.

      You don’t need a ferry to get to the island; the island and the mainland are connected by a toll bridge. There is also an international airport in the north of the island (Rijeka Airport). Various tour operators offer flights in combination with hotel stays. Flights can also be booked directly with Germanwings, Croatia Airlines or TUIfly.

      The relief is karstic, with interesting karst formations: Caves and Caves (Biserujka near Dobrinj), narrow valleys and sinkholes. The central part is covered with fertile fields.
      The coast is richly indented, with many bays and natural pebble beaches. The largest bays are Soline (healing mud) and Puntarska draga.
      The climate is a pleasant Mediterranean climate. The average air temperature in summer is 22.8°C and the sea temperature is 23-25°C. The main winds are the bora, the jugo and the maestral. With its 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, the island of Krk in Croatia is one of the sunniest areas in Europe.
      Waters: There are two lakes on the island: Jezero and Ponikva, as well as three rivers: Veli or Dobrinjski potok, Vretenica and Vela Rika.
      Vegetation: The central and western parts of the island are dominated by forests, fruit and vegetable crops, vineyards and olive groves. In the northern and southern parts of Krk there are rock gardens and pastures.

      Base

      The diving center was opened in April 1999 and is managed by Adriano Bähtz. It is located directly at the harbor of the town of Krk. Apartments, boat and the promenade are only a few steps away.

      The base is equipped with a reception, drying room, training room, washbasin for diving equipment, shower and toilet, large outdoor area with garden and a cozy deco lounge. In addition to 30 complete sets of rental equipment, the base has 90 x 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15 liter tanks. Half of the tanks are equipped with double outlets. Nitrox and O2 support are available.

      Education

      All i.a.c. courses are offered, including diving instructor courses. An IDC/IE is guaranteed to take place once a year. Crossovers to i.a.c. Instructor courses can be held at any time during the season. Fun Diving is the only diving center to offer the special course "Mediterranian Biology".

      Diving

      Diving trips to eight offshore islands, to around 40 different surrounding dive sites, promise experiences of a special class even for demanding divers:
      - untouched underwater landscapes
      - rock faces sloping steeply into the blue void, beautifully overgrown with red gorgonians
      - encounters with lobsters, scorpion fish, rays, anglerfish and cat sharks
      - impressive caves and caverns to dive in and through.
      - Wrecks and relics from the past

      Most of the dive sites can be reached in 25 to 90 minutes by boat on a day trip and are located on the islands of Plavnik, Mali Plavnik, Kormati, Cres, Prvic, Galun and Krk. Half-day tours are also included in the program.

      The shore diving sites are between 5 and 30 minutes' drive from the base and are ideal for a half day's diving. The Pelastyes wreck is also an ideal half-day trip. Other wrecks that can be visited:

      Living

      Apartments and studios in all categories are available within walking distance of the base. The Jezevac campsite is also just a 5-minute walk away. Just outside the town of Krk there is the possibility of complete vacation homes with pool. The diving center will gladly arrange the accommodation.
