Course content

In the Specialty Community Science Diver course, you will learn the fundamentals of deep diving, reinforced through targeted practical exercises. During the corresponding dives, you will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge under supervision and gain relevant deep diving experience.

Theoretical training

• Fundamentals of science, ethics, and sustainability in citizen science diving
• Understanding marine and freshwater ecosystems and accurately identifying species
• Mapping, monitoring, and documentation techniques
• Risk assessment, navigation, and safety in scientific diving projects

Practical training

• At least three project dives involving real or simulated data collection
• Application of sampling techniques
• Photographic documentation
• Monitoring
• Environmentally friendly diving techniques

Overview

• Certification as an i.a.c. Community Science Diver (Ocean or Freshwater)
• Participation in real research and citizen science projects (worldwide)
